On Playing John Jerome in Arturo's Window
It is a privilege for an actor to be handed such a complex role. Cheryl & Rod’s trust in my ability is an honor and it has been a great joy for me to play John Jerome. Unless you are an actor it may be a difficult thing to understand, but playing a living person is a responsibility. Being trusted with it is a delicate and beautiful part of the craft of acting.
I was very excited that The York Theatre gave us a second staged reading. The rewrites since the first reading have been substantial and the writers' have streamlined the play. The biggest change is probably the combining of what was originally a dual role into one: John Jerome now simultaneously tells the story and steps into his own past as scenes are played out.
Ultimately, of course, all of us involved hope that a full production of Arturo's Window will happen soon. We've had interest from a variety of sources and Jim Morgan has been our champion through it all.
Currently, a benefit reading for Bailey House is being planned and you'll find out more as soon as I know!
